I think it can now be an official fact that whenever I am unable to attend a festival, we win an award. Basically, I should never travel and we’ll do really well!
Thank you to the festival for giving our film the recognition! And to all the below winners, congrats!
It’s been a busy August for BEAT AROUND THE BUSH, the little old lady orgasm movie that just keeps getting around!
It is fantastic to share that the entire cast of the film were acknowledged for their talent and hard work this past weekend when the Atlanta Underground Film Festival Awarded us and award for Best Ensemble Cast. Huge congrats to Brenda Matthews, Mary Black, Gina Stockdale, and of course, Kacey Rohl.
Thank you so much for the recognition!

“The AUFF exposes and promotes creative artists who work outside the system to create DIY, grass-roots movies that break the boundaries of film and video. Through the festival, these talented independent filmmakers now have a voice in a market typically saturated with commercial entertainment designed to satisfy the audience’s expectations.
Much more than the traditional stuffy film festival, Atlanta Underground Film Festival is a non-stop party celebrating short and feature films in a down-to-earth, welcoming setting where filmmakers and fans are encouraged to connect and collaborate.” www.auff.org

The 18th Annual Shorts International Festival is a festival that only screens films that have previously won awards, and I’m happy to announce that BEAT AROUND THE BUSH has been officially selected. The festival runs July 1st-8th in Trieste, Italy and having been there myself once (whilst hitchhiking across Europe), I would love to go again!
For a list of selected films visit their website.
This will be the second film that I have directed that has played here. My short TROLLS, screened in 2011.
Two stellar actors I’ve had the pleasure to work with in the last couple of years are nominated for Leo Awards for our collaborations.
Brenda Matthews and I met shortly after she stepped off the motorcycle she had been riding for 6 weeks. She was going to miss the audition and then in the 11th our of my distress that we would never find out UNA for BEAT AROUND THE BUSH, I heard her voice outside the casting room. Since the I refer to her with exclamation as Brenda F*cking Matthews and that suits her just fine.
