Here’s how to help The Dangers of Online Dating win $1M and a distribution deal!

Hello to the wonderful folks who check out my website news feed. The time is NOW!
DOOD_poster_cinecoup
You wanted to see some of The Dangers of Online Dating?

Well for now, you get two minutes of it in as a trailer for DOOD as a feature film, which we are competing with as part of the CineCoup Film Accelerator. The Prize? ONE MILLION DOLLARS and a distribution deal with Cineplex.

Here’s the deal.

We (Team DOOD) have an extremely good chance to earn this funding. We say earn because we are proving the value of the project by showing there is a real audience ($$) that exists and will buy the finished film. This is money in the bank to a potential development partner. We also say earn because this is going to be work. Myself aka Brianne Nord-Stewart (Director/Writer), Benjamin Larose (Writer), and Corey Tracey (Producer) will be working our asses off over the next couple weeks and we will need YOU.

The Cinecoup Accelerator relies largely on social measurements. We need to build a social conversation and sustain it for 8weeks (Now 7 weeks more!). This is going to be critical.

Here are a few pointers:

    • please sign into the www.CineCoup.com/thedangersofonlinedating page with your Facebook account and rate the trailer with 10 stars. There are some teams deliberately rating their competition with 1star to try and offset really great ratings. So we need to make sure that we get as many 10 star ratings as possible.
      • please get your friends and families to do the same thing!
    • complete the CineCoup Fan Missions. These missions will allow you extra votes in the upcoming rounds. These missions include adding 5 movies to your watch list, connecting a twitter account, etc.
      • please get your friends and families to do the same thing!
    • follow @DOODtheMovie on twitter and tweet your support. Add the #dood hashtag and make sure you also add the @doodthemovie address. Retweet as many of our tweets as possible to make sure we reach a broad an audience.
      • please get your friends and families to do the same thing!
    • Facebook. Follow the https://www.facebook.com/TheDangersOfOnlineDating FB page. Share the posts on your own timeline and like the posts to keep them active. Facebook has a smart algorithm that hides content posts that ppl are not talking about. So we need to make sure that there is legitimate conversation about our posts to keep them active – so that they do show up at the top of the timeline feed.
      • please get your friends and families to do the same thing!

Every week there will be a new challenge or Mission set out for the team. We will need your support, and we will definitely need you to follow the above steps each week.

We are currently TRENDING, which means that we are one of the top projects people are currently talking about. We need to keep it this way! That happens when people continue to comment and interact with the CineCoup page primarily. So keep up the good work commenting on the missions and challenges as they happen. Stay connected.

Oh and about that trailer…

Thank you to all of the amazing people who contributed to this project getting made before I even knew that this competition existed!

Last night, I went to a Whistler Film Festival special launch event at the the Rio Theatre celebrating the 6th annual  MPPIA Short Film Award for emerging Directors! Last year, I was selected as one of the top 5 finalists for this award and I was thrilled to be chosen once again for it! Woot!

The Motion Picture Production Industry Association (MPPIA) of BC, British Columbia Film + Media and the Whistler Film Festival established the MPPIA Short Film Award in 2007 which provides one filmmaker with the opportunity to further develop their directing career by realizing a unique creative vision in a short film project.

For this Award, I will be one of five filmmakers doing a live pitch for a short film at the 2012 Summit at the WFF on Dec 1 at 10:30 am before a jury of three industry professionals and an industry peer audience.

The winner (announced the following day) will win the $15 000 cash award plus resources “in-kind” valued up to $100,000 geared towards production for their proposed film; my short film is called, Cougars Cruising.

SEASICK WINS AT THE BLOODSHOTS SCREENING

I am happy to announce that SEASICK, which I edited and co-wrote with director, Kryshan Randel, won BEST ACTING at the Rio Theatre for the Bloodshots 48 Hour Horror Filmmaking Competition screening last night! Thank you all so much for your support and participation in this contest.

Congrats to our cast, Marsha Regis, Marina Pasques, Billy Marchenski and Gili Roskies, for earning free headshots for themselves from Wendy D.

There will be more updates coming soon. The film looked and sounded great at the screening and audience reaction was appropriately enthusiastic about the horror.

Here are the three finalists that will be considered for the $1000 grand prize:

Jury Award for Best Film: “Tender Threads” by Team Failure
In-house Audience Award for Best Film: “Chishio” by Masters of the Universe
Online Audience Award for Best Film: “Fidelium” by Borrowtime Productions

A shout-out to Andy Thompson

Andy Thompson, who co-produced and co-wrote The Provider, is now directing an interactive theatre adventure all over downtown Vancouver!

The 2-hour show starts in Yaletown but travels to different venues as the plot moves. The coolest thing about Andy’s show is that he puts you, as the audience, as the star of the show!

I am super proud of Andy Thompson for this upcoming play. In an interview with the Province, Andy said that he “got hooked” after his experience making The Provider, which won first prize in a North America-wide Bloodshots short contest.

With five daily shows from Oct 13 – 31, this is a show you definitely don’t want to miss out on!

Please help support Andy!

Completely missed this! The Provider Screened in Puerto Rico!

My short film, The Provider screened in Puerto Rico last month as part of the Tenth Edition of Cinefiesta (July 22nd. To 29th. 2012). Ninety two shorts were selected amongst 1,624 submitted.
Sadly we did get the email but then it got lost! Co-Producer Andy Thompson and I wish we could have gone!

THE PROVIDER goes to Boston, Massachusetts on September 15th for Etheria

It’s been on my mind that while programming the Viscera Film Festival, I come across so many amazing short films directed by women that aren’t quite horror-y enough, or not horror at all, but that still have an amazing fantastical element to them. It makes me sad to have to forget about those films. So, in 2012, we decided not to.” – Heidi Honeycutt

It is a great honor that my short film THE PROVIDER is not only programmed on the Viscera Film Festival TOUR but to also be one of the first films to screen as part of the first ever Etheria Film Festival! Who knew a twisted post-apocalyptic alternate-history psychological thriller would do so well Not to mention it was made in 48 Hours!

The screening is not until September 15, 2012 so mark your calenders and let your Boston friends know!

Also check out www.etheriafilmfestival.com and the Facebook event page for the festival details and to share with your friends!
