ITVFest (the Independent Television Festival) is a worldwide community of television creators, executives, agents and fans responsible for discovering the best new television programs created on independent (aka, non-network) budgets.

This is an excellent forum to discover new shows, meet new creators, and show off our hilarious show YOUNG & RECKLESS and also talk about “what’s next”.

It’s been a busy August for BEAT AROUND THE BUSH, the little old lady orgasm movie that just keeps getting around!

It is fantastic to share that the entire cast of the film were acknowledged for their talent and  hard work this past weekend when the Atlanta Underground Film Festival Awarded us and award for Best Ensemble Cast. Huge congrats to Brenda Matthews, Mary Black, Gina Stockdale, and of course, Kacey Rohl.

“Beat Around the Bush” heads to the Broad Humour in Venice Beach

“Beat Around the Bush” is an official selection at the 10th Annual Broad Humour Film Festival

After the HollyShorts, and Atlanta Underground screenings in August, BEAT AROUND THE BUSH is heading back to Los Angeles once again and will be screening in Venice Beach as part of the 10th Broad Humour Film Festival. 

The Broad Humour Film Festival runs August 31st-September 3rd, 2017 and is a place where funny broads hang out with funny broads. Our lead actress Brenda Matthews will definitely be in attendance, and  it’s possible I will be as well!

The Atlanta Underground Film Festival has Officially Selected “Beat Around the Bush”

“Beat Around the Bush” is an official selection at the 2017 Atlanta Underground Film Festival

After the HollyShorts screening on August 15th, 2017, BEAT AROUND THE BUSH is heading to Atlanta, Georgia to be a part of the Atlanta Underground Film Festival. 

The Atlanta Underground Film Festival runs August 18th-20th, 2017 and is known for promoting creative artists who create grass-roots movies that break the boundaries of film and video. That and the festival is, and a quote, “a non-stop party”.

“Beat Around the Bush” is officially selected at the HollyShorts Film Festival

The next two months have some exciting screenings in store for BEAT AROUND THE BUSHThe film that just keeps going!

HollyShorts is an Academy Awards® Qualifying Festival and they have selected us to screen alongside some other fantastic films. The festival runs August 10th-19th, 2017 in Los Angeles at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood.

I’m receiving the WIFTV Encore Vancouver Newcomer Spotlight Award

It’s been a pretty good run the last couple of months with numerous accolades and awards stacking up on my office shelf for YOUNG & RECKLESS.

It feels pretty stellar to also be receiving The Encore Vancouver Newcomer Award from the Women in Film & Television Spotlight Awards. Here’s what the award looks like:

YOUNG & RECKLESS picked up FOUR awards at T.O. Webfest and The Mics this weekend!

The YOUNG & RECKLESS team had a pretty stellar weekend taking home four trophies in two cities. Over on the east coast at the T.O. Webfest in Toronto, YOUNG & RECKLESS won Best Comedy and Best Supporting Performance by Sierra Pitkin.

Over in Calgary at the 1st annual ​The MICs International Awards Gala For YouthSierra Pitkin was awarded Best Actress in a Web Based Series in the 15-20 age category for her role as OLIVIA. Paige Bateman was awarded Best Supporting Actress in a Webseries for her role as STACEY, OLIVIA’s fierce best friend and sidekick.

All in all, it was a big rad weekend full of industry pats on the back for us and a number of fantastic other series.. I highly recommend checking out some of the titles at T.O. Webfest including: The New Adventures of Brobot Johnson by Darian Dauchan, Out With Dad by Jason Leaver, That’s My DJ (season 2) by D.W. Waterson, and High Life by Luke Eve & Glen Dolman. All of these shows picked up awards and they really really deserved it!

Beat Around the Bush has been Officially Selected at the 17th Nickel Independent Film Festival !

The Nickel Independent Film Festival has officially selected BEAT AROUND THE BUSH for their 17th year!

17th nickel independent film festival 2017The festival runs from Tuesday June 20th to Saturday June 24, 2017 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. The Nickel showcases films from Canada and around the world, and and offers screenings, workshops, Q&A’s, and receptions. 

This is the second time the Nickel has programmed my work. The first was in 2011 with TROLLS. Glad to see they still like awkward comedies about sex and coming of age!
